Kris Buckle’s Video Song Blog Part 11 ‘Loves You Like Her Dog’.

24 June 2013

Hey,

Here’s part 11 of my song blog where I’m revisiting songs I’ve written over the years. This one’s probably early 90’s. I’d forgotten about it until a friend mentioned it the other week so I thought I’d give it a go. It’s a short track and I think I used to play it with and old casio keyboard drum beat. Sounded pretty kitsch. Anyway, please share these blog videos if you get the chance.

RIP Esther Williams

07 June 2013

Had an idea to use one of Esther William’s amazing pieces a while back for a video. On the news of her passing away I just put this together this morning. If you’ve not seen her films try and watch one, they’re a feast for the eyes. Perhaps nice Sunday viewing pre roast.

Here’s my tribute:

Hey guy’s,
Welcome to part 10 of my video song blog where I’m journeying through songs I’ve written over the years. This one’s from the early 2000/late 90s. It’s called Nu-Fella and I guess has a Beck vibe going on. Anyway, hope you enjoy and make sure you grab a glass to toast the 10th episode with me:)

Kris Buckle song blog part 7 ‘Waiting in Line’ #krisbucklesongblog

11 April 2013

Hey guys,

Sorry about the delay with this one but between moving house and destroying my laptop I’ve been a bit tied up. This track is called ‘Waiting in Line’ and was written around 1997. When I performed this track at college we had a special guest by the name of Bernard Purdie who’s recorded drums with the likes of Aretha Franklin, Gil Scott-Heron, Isaac Hayes, Cat Stevens,The Rolling Stones and Miles Davis among many others. Need I say more, the guys had an amazing career. He sat in on our performances and judged each of us.

He gave he’s honest opinion on people’s work and some of it wasn’t nice but he loved this track and got up and played it with me. It was a real moment for me, I have the recording on cassette and the guy has an exceptional groove without doubt!!!

Thanks

Kris Buckle song blog part 6 ‘Hard to be good’ #krisbucklesongblog

27 March 2013

Welcome to part 6 of my video song blog where I’m taking a little trip through the songs I’ve written over the years. This weeks blog is a track I wrote at college in 1997 for an assignment we were given to write a hit?! Unfortunately it wasn’t:)

The live version with drums and bass was kicking and I stuck a bit of distortion on the chorus riff which sounded big!! Since starting this blog I’m getting the urge to record these songs properly with bass and drums just for the luxury of being able to listen to them in good quality rather than the dicta-phone tapes I have.

Hope you enjoy folks, comments welcome.

Kris Buckle song blog part 5 ‘NICE’ (guitar workout!!!) #krisbucklesongblog

20 March 2013

So, here’s part 5 of my song blog where I’m uploading live videos of songs I’ve written over the years. We’re now in 1997 with this one called ‘Nice’. I found a rehearsal from college on an old tape and it would seem I was in good form on the guitar back then.

I did have all day every day to play so I guess it was to be expected. It’s taken me a few days to get it to a presentable level so sorry for the late upload. I’d like to have a go at this one again down the line a bit when I’m on the money with it.

Got to say the bass lines on the rehearsal at college are so good. I’d love to know what Tj is up to these days? I hope you’re still playing mate you were special.

Anyway, I hope you can dig this one, it’s well 90’s hey? I was gonna wear a flannelette shirt and some DM’s just to set the scene.

Feel free to comment folks.

Much love

Welcome to part 4 of my video song blog in which I’m taking a journey through songs I’ve written over time starting from the early 90s somewhere. This one featured on my first album ‘Birds that fly and other things’ but was actually around long before that release in 2008.

Hope you like, once again feel free to comment here on my YouTube page, what ever your thoughts.

Kris Buckle video blog No:2 ‘She’s the Pain’ #krisbucklesongblog

06 March 2013

Here’s blog 2 folk’s,

I think this would come after the first one time wise?? Judging on who it’s about I think it would be around my final years at school so I reckon 1993ish………Yep I’m that young. Around that time I was listening to Hendrix, The Doors, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell among other stuff and obviously mainstream bands were Pearl Jam and so on so I guess that infected my writing a bit.

This track had a nice bass line I’d written for it in an Omar: ‘There’s Nothing Like This’ kinda style. Perhaps sometime I’ll get someone to sit in and play bass?? Perhaps sing the harmonies.

Anyway like I said on the previous blog please feel free to comment, I don’t seem to be able to generate comments……not even bad ones so tell me it’s crap if you think so:) It’s be nice to get some feedback.

I’ll keep firing them out though, damn there’s plenty of songs in my back catalogue so this could go on for a while. I’m looking to putting these tracks out there whatever the case as it’s nice to document them together for the first time.

Hope you enjoy it. The next will be a track I had named ‘Country Queen’ Country as in out in the sticks not the music genre. I think I may change it to ‘Tired Eye’s’ though which is one of the lyrics in the chorus.

Cheers
