This just totally made my day. Having moved to a new country, fathering a beautiful baby boy and starting work at a mine site clocking up 60+ hours a week my music career feels to be slipping from my fingers at times. Today I took a copy of Guitarist Mag that I’ve had lying around for a few years into work. My wife bought it for me in December 2009 on our anniversary because it was an anniversary edition. At the time I flicked through it and put it down and it was shipped over here to Australia with a bunch of paperwork and other mags.
So, there I was thumbing through the pages in the lunch room when I saw this cracking review of my fist album. Thanks Guitarist magazine, I wish I’d seen it sooner but none the less it’s made my day.
Just wanted to say that I’m out of action musically for 6 months or so as I’ve recently become a father and am working 6 day weeks 12hr day’s earning bucks to get on that there property ladder. I will resume my musical activity (for those who enjoy what I do) around June, believe me it’s hard not making music at the mo but needs must. In the meantime I’m playing at the Bunbury regional entertainment Center on the 10th of Feb with The Lessons.
Just to let you know the digital release of my album ‘Lesson One’ is happening. The date is set for tomorrow but it could take a few days to reach the major download stores and Spotify etc. I will keep you up to date and will also put links on this site for those that wish to buy a copy. You can also buy direct from me if you wish. You will need a paypal account to do so and can email the payment to my paypal account using my email address. I will then email the album and artwork to you in what ever your desired format is. This method is obviously a little more fiddly than buying elsewhere but those that are savvy shouldn’t have a problem. If you would to buy direct from me just contact me through this website and we’ll take it from there. Otherwise follow the links to itunes, Amazon etc when posted.
With regards to hard copies unfortunately this is a luxury I can’t afford at the moment but I will be printing copies myself with my snazzy printer with a view to sell at gigs. If and when the opportunity ever arises I will print and arrange hard copies for distribution. We’ll see how we go hey.
It gives me great pleasure to finally share some of the music I’ve been working on for my forthcoming album ‘Lesson one’ which will be available to download soon from my website. I’ve wanted to move on from my last project ‘Birds that fly and other things’ since before it was released and now sharing this track with you I’m beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
I’ve seen every track on my coming album through from the seed of an idea to the final result and in-between every mic placed, every instrument played (apart from the drums) and note sung has been my doing. I’m not a trained engineer and have little idea about the science of sound so have had to go through a process of trial and error through out. Also with there being a zero budget behind this project I have had to work around limitations all the way and have raised funds for any equipment used in the recording process so as you can imagine I feel a great sense of achievement finally seeing the finished product ahead.
The album is very much a journey in which I reflect on my life and experiences to date and I’ve tried hard to share my head space and my true selfwith the colours and textures I’ve managed to produce. I really hope you like it and can find it in your heart/pocket to buy a copy when it’s released and aid me in making more music to share with you.
This particular track is without doubt one of my favourites and it has my hair on end every time I hear it. I can only hope does the same magic on you folks.
Enjoy!
