Playing guitar for Liam Bailey…..with BV’s of course!

23 February 2010

For the past few months I’ve had the pleasure of  being Master Liam Baileys  Axe man and backing vocalist. We played out first show on the 30th of Jan at The new to Q mag gig in Nottinghill at The Tabernacle supporting Ellie Goulding. We’ve been rehearsing plugged in and electrified but did an acoustic set for this show with Double Bass and Cajon WHICH WAS NICE!. The next show is on the 18th of March once again at The Tabernacle this time supporting ROX. Come down and check Liam out. He’s a bit good!

Acoustic magazine review

23 February 2010

Just read a nice review about myself and the album in this months issue of Acoustic magazine (issue 39). I’ve posted a link to a scan of the review for those of you who’d like to check it out. I should mention though I didn’t play with dUES! I played in a band with Stéphane Misseghers who at the time played for Soulwax but has been with dEUS for a number of years now. Easy Stefk! How’s it going me old china.

Dealing with jokers and getting on with it!

21 January 2010

Hi Folks,

I thought I’d explain briefly where I am with things at the moment. The last year has been a struggle as far as my first album goes and dealing with the people who were in charge of the promotion etc. There have been many unkept promises and and many months of no communication whatsoever which has at times lead to my loss of zeal for the whole affair and occasionally throwing my toys out of the pram. As disappointing as the last few years events have been I’ve not lost the urge to create. Those of you that do so in whatever form know well that we don’t do it for recognition or finance although both would be nice. We do it because we can’t stop! So, without going into too much detail I just thought I’d let those of you who read my blogs etc know that I am still here doing what I do and although I may not put many posts up or arrange any shows in the following months it’s not because I’ve stopped. It’s quite the opposite and I am busy working towards the next offering whatever that may be. At present, although I’ve been accumulating works of a folky mellow nature for a possible follow up to my current album I’m also looking into some other genres again. I’ll let you know where and when you’ll be able to hear chapter two unless I change my name to a symbol or something. If that’s the case hopefully you’ll just stumble upon some great music someday and think who the **** is this?

Footage from the Jools gig.

23 December 2009

Unfortunately we were not allowed to film the show at either venue which is why I haven’t put any footage of the actual performance up on YouTube etc.  I was however given a DVD after the first show but there seems to be an issue with the file and I can’t convert it to upload. In a way I’m glad as the audio was recorded directly through the desk so there’s no room ambience what so ever. It’s not a very forgiving sound and would have been much better recorded on my camera with the condenser mic but hey ho!! Next time.

Last night at Cardiff international arena

21 December 2009

Last night was quite an experience. The arena was massive for a start so the idea of performing to such a large crown got the nerves going. It went really well though. No hiccups at all and after the second track I was quite my usual bantering self. After the performance I did some CD signing at the foyer. I must apologise to Lauren!! You know who you are SORRY! In my post gig haze I struggled with pen and paper and made a mess of her CD. Lauren if you read this I’ll happily send you another CD cover that you can read properly. After the Jools show I met up with Rico Rodrigues http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rico_Rodriguez and Jools’s music researcher. Good people to meet! I got to have a chat with the main man to Mr Holland and left him with a CD….. Which was nice..  So that was the gig. Then it all went mental when I set off to drive home from Cardiff. There was a blizzard!!! I drove for about 2 hours at 15mph sliding all over the road praying for a services. Intense, didn’t like it at all. Still made it home in the end and a whiskey and a cigarette and watched some Fawlty Towers. Ahh home. I’ll pop up some footage soon.  Merry Xmas
