I’m still working hard on new songs for my set which will become my next release. It’s not going to be a full album, more of an EP type thing and will be mostly just guitar and voice as I’ll probably record this one at home. I’m introducing myself to new picking patterns and trying hard to ensure that I stick to my guns and keep it real. I’m determined to get the sound I want with this one and am a little bit angry that I lost my battle with my label on the album I have out now and recorded somewhere I knew had the wrong tools for me. Don’t miss understand me, I do think there are some great songs on my album it just doesn’t sound warm and woody as I wanted and there is a serious lack of reverb in my opinion. That was due to the 90s mixer in the studio where all the FX were in this place. It wasn’t my cup of tea at all so I left it out all together. Anyhow, these are all lessons learned and for the next release I will be free to choose where I record and am working hard to improve my writing skills drastically. Interestingly, I’m often accused for being a perfectionist but I think people misunderstand. I’m not stressing to make my songs as shinny and clean and well played as possible. It’s totally the opposite. I’m searching to have things sound as loose and rough as I can which is an art in itself. Mastering the art of being good without being good but still being good!

Tell me about it mate.
Long time no nuthin. Remember me? (don’t check my domain cos nuthin’s there yet)- stuart from the ol’ George south Woodford me rekons.
I stumbled across your stuff and I’m impressed with your current shenanigans but not surprised cos I’ve always been blown away by your offerings. I can see why you wanna do some back 2 basics stuff though but the sound you have on the album tracks I’ve heard still DO YOU justice and you’re riding it – which counts.
It proves you can sort it out and get an album together with humans, which is brilliant.
I’m still at it. Trying to do it all me self, enjoying it, bumming it and out of work in Dorset presently.
Keep it all up – Long live the reverb and clip distortion?
Hope to catch you at one of your shows.
